I was invited to Ai Fiori by a vendor for a corporate event. Not one to say no to a free event I went and was sooo glad I did. Ai Fiori is located inside a hotel, once you get off the elevator you are greeted by a hosted who kindly walked me back to the function. There, I was greeted with my choice of drink, which I selected a Pinot noir. Several hors d'oeuvres were floating around; my favorite was the prosciutto. The ambiance was luxurious. There was another private function happening at the same time; It was divided by heavy, thick curtains. It was giving 5 star quality. Since this was a private event there was a fixed menu. For the antipasti I ordered the Crudo e Caviale, the creme fraiche at the bottom of the fish was out of this world. I then ordered the Risotto ai Funghi as my Secondi. So creamy and delish. For my Dolci, I ordered the Tiramisu and I swear this was the best Tiramisu I ever had. The chocolate espresso cake at the bottom is what i still dream of. Over all, I had an amazing experience and would love to go back!
We had a amazing experience there and food was excellent. Everything was decent and appetizing was great too. The restaurant was so classy and has elegant vibe, perfect for dates and special occasion. The wine selection was great and the taste so good and has amazing flavor. From appetizer to dessert, everything taste so delicious. The salad were so good and very tasty. So fresh and has excellent quality. It's a pricey but I think it was reasonable.
Ai fiori has always been on my list & was so impressed by all the courses esp the portion sizes. The fusilli pasta was the star of the show and paired really well with the wine.
I remember loving Marea over a decade ago and was excited to try Ai Fiori when I was in New York a couple weeks back. I was visiting for a conference, and this was the only reservation I made for my trip, a late Wednesday dinner (early by California time) on our first night in town. I went with my mom, my son, and an old friend based in the city. The reservation was easy to make, and the restaurant felt pretty quiet the whole time we were there, which was both good and bad for a fancy restaurant dinner with a four-year-old. The space was calm and attractive, and we asked for a remote table where we could hem the kid in between two adults. There was a nice corner table with banquette seating that met our purposes quite nicely. Service was good, if not noteworthy. My son does pretty well at restaurants, but he had a few moments, and I don't think anyone was trying to hang out with us. Ai Fiori isn't for children, but it is worth noting that my son, a generally awful eater, had maybe the biggest dinner of his life at this restaurant. Not only did he finish his (hilariously expensive) spaghetti with tomato sauce, he also ate a bunch of my mom's seafood spaghetti. On the grown-up side, I enjoyed the Spice Trade cocktail to start, a nice, refreshing drink made with Teremana blanco tequila, pimento dram, jasmine, ginger, white peppercorn, passionfruit, and lime. I also liked my friend's Fiori Gin & Tonic, with Gin Agricolo Blagheur, Apologue persimmon liqueur, Meyer lemon, grapefruit, and Fever Tree Mediterranean tonic. I had a lovely glass of Sancerre to go with the remainder of my dinner. We opted for the four course prix fixe for $120 a person, which felt like the right approach, if ambitious for our situation. This came with our choices of antipasto, pasta or risotto, main, and dolce. Overall, I found the food reasonably good, which is to say fine, but not as delicious as it should be for the price. Dinner started with a little amuse bouche, a crunchy chickpea cracker with green pea and scallion. Then there was bread service with a few different options. I got the sourdough and it wasn't especially fresh, but it did come with quality butter. My favorite dish of the night was my polipo, a lovely, hearty antipasto of tender seared octopus over a bed of fregola with calamari and spring pea. I also tried and liked the ricciola, a light crudo of hiramasa with shiso, sunflower seed, and spring onion. I was less into my pasta, a doughy cavatelli with English pea, morel, fiore sardo, and cured egg yolk. It wasn't bad or anything, but it didn't taste as good as it sounded. The spaghetti was better, the pasta a pleasant al dente, served with a winning combination of blue crab, lemon, bottarga, and Calabrian chili. Both mains I tried were just okay. The aragosta was a butter-poached lobster tail that was somehow a tiny bit rubbery and muted in flavor, plated with guanciale, chickpea, and ramp. The ippoglosso was pan-seared halibut with fava bean, broccolini, and basil. A solid piece of fish, but not memorable. We shared all the desserts, and these were all great. My favorite was the budino di riso, a coconut rice pudding with kumquat and pistachio gelato. The tartaletta was pretty and satisfying, with crème fraîche, grapefruit, and strawberry campari sorbetto. The cioccolato was a rich chocolate mousse with peanut praline and banana whipping ganache, and we got more chocolate with the check, four bonbons that might have been chocolate caramels. I wouldn't know, as my son happily claimed mine. I liked Ai Fiori, but it was more expensive than it was special. I'd rather try Marea again than come back here. I'll bet they make an excellent tomato pasta there, too.
Wow, just wow! The hubby doesn't like to spend a lot of money on Italian food so he was a bit skeptical about Ai Fiori but it was worth every penny. The space is beautiful, on the second floor of a boutique hotel - both elegant and modern. Our server was wonderful and attentive, he told us about his many trips to Sicily - made this location higher on our bucket list! We had: - Fluke Crudo - wonderful - Tartar de Carne - delicious and fresh - Market Beet - very good - Risotto - delicious - Black Pasta with Truffle - very good and not fishy - Coconut Rice Pudding - delicious - Gelatos - fresh and delicious - Cocktails - delicious Overall a wonderful meal!
I didn't dine here but had a drink at the bar called Bar Fiori. Upscale craft bar that knows what it's doing! Every drink is made without mixers and such. And the bartenders are so well versed in their craft. It is a bit pricey, but fits the clientele. The drink pictured is the Birch Bourbon. Stellar and recommended!
Made a reservation for 6pm but got there at 5pm. We did street parking and for two hours it was $17. If you decide to drive in, just park in the garage. We walked up the stairs to get to the restaurant and it was sorta beautiful with all the flowers along the stairs. The aroma of the hotel lobby was also perfumed and nice. There were no issues seating me even though I made two reversions. One with open table and another with Seated. Can you believe that this restaurant is on seated for 11% cash back? You bet I took advantage of that. The waiter came by and explained the entire menu, he was thorough and probably the most informative waiter I've had. His speech was also clear. We opted for the a la carte and went with his suggestion on the pulpo, and we separately ordered the crudo as well as the lobster soup. He astutely observed that we would likely want to share the lobster soup and asked to confirm. For entree we went with the Maine lobster pasta with capers and the wagyu short rib dish. We also had complimentary bread and butter as well as an amuse Bouche. All the dishes felt small, but not mighty. The crudo was good and the caviar seemed substantial. The lobster pasta was also quite good and had amazing flavor. You can definitely taste the capers. But the portion was tiny and the pasta felt a bit toooo al dente for my liking. My partner enjoyed the wagyu and short rib but also noted it wasn't the best he had. In fact, he said the steak he had from the work cafeteria was just as good. I didn't particularly enjoy the steak and short rib, nor the mushroom. The pulpo was tiny! I had just bought an octopus from Costco for $17 earlier that day so to pay what I did for a tiny pulpo with severely bitter vegetables was just not so appealing. Lastly, the lobster soup was decent but nothing to write home about but I did appreciate that they split the dish in two for both of us to enjoy. BTW the bread and butter were really good, I had a cranberry sliced bread and partner had a sourdough. The amuse Bouche was a fried cheese ball and my partner enjoyed that but I thought it was fine. The best thing about this place really was the service. The waiter was attentive and we were offered additional bread a few times. I ended up paying with inKind to take advantage of their deal and paid significantly less as a result. Stacked with seated cash back, I didn't pay too much. My partner on this rare occasion wanted to tip significantly more than 20% as a result of the 5 star service we received. Overall, we enjoyed our time here but I can see why this place has been faltering a bit.
After a second amazing experience at Ai Fiori, I thought it is the proper time to put up my review. This time I tried the four course prix fixe, so was able to sample more dishes. The food was all amazing, and the service was phenomenal across the dinner. First course I had the foie terrine with pear, which came with some brioche. The fruit worked well to cut through the richness of the foie, and everything was seasoned well. Second course I had the trofie pasta with scallop, which had amazing texture. Portions of the pasta plates are smaller though which I didn't mind given the size of everything else Entree I had the scallops with sunchokes. Perfectly executed scallops, yum! For dessert I finished with the chocolate mousse; this was a bit too sweet for my taste but had great texture contrast. Highly recommend this restaurant to everyone, for the food but also the decor and vibes. (Also pictured are some other dishes my fellow diners had)
Start to finish...Wow! The amuse bouche corn cannoli, amazing. the Foie Gras appetizer, spectacular as was the crudo with caviar. Then the dover sole was outstanding, but the wagyu steak was so flavorful. The risotto was also delicious. The wine list was extensive, pricy but found a Asti be Barbera that was great! Now to the service; in a word...Perfection! Ismael was our server and he was as professional and attentive as I have ever experienced. Will be back soon, as both the food and service are 5 star!
